Musical Theatre

The fundamental objective of the program is to prepare students to begin a professional career in the theatre. The Musical Theatre emphasis engages students in four years of integrated acting, dance, and music training. Upon graduation students can enter the professional world as skilled, intelligent, and versatile performers with a wide range of educational opportunities.

Crew assignments are made after casting and include production work in lighting, costume, scenery, rigging, props, running crew, and front-of-house operations. Failure to successfully complete production requirements will jeopardize a student’s standing as a theater major. In addition, theater students may take classes in Music Theory, Choir (all by permission of the instructor and if these courses do not conflict with scheduling of theater curriculum), Piano, Guitar, Band, Orchestra, and Directing.
